Case description
On the morning of February 6, 1969, nineteen-year-old fruit seller Tiago Machado saw a bright object descend near the Instituto Zootécnico da Indústria e Pecuária at Pirassununga, São Paulo. He went toward the site with the institution's gatekeeper, Francisco Hanser. The catalogue's February 7 date differs from the February 6 date identified by the named archival statement, later witness interview and Brazilian publisher. The investigative form's time notation is also less clear than the morning chronology given in the interview description.
Machado described a small silver craft on three supports. Its rounded, plate-like body had an upper dome, a lower projection, a small opening and a broad transparent panoramic window. The supports ended in rounded feet. These details are preserved in the two-page investigative form and its partial drawing. He compared the finish with aluminium-coloured cigarette packaging.
Two helmeted figures in metallic-looking clothes came out of the object. Suenaga's longer account also places two more figures behind its window. Machado attempted to communicate and offered a cigarette. The figures subsequently returned to the craft. Before departure, according to Machado's account, a beam struck his legs and left him unable to move. He did not describe boarding or a journey inside the object.
Other people found him distressed, and he was taken for medical attention. The account led to questioning, drawings and Brazilian Air Force investigation. The preserved statement establishes what he reported; it does not supply a demonstrated physical mechanism for the light or paralysis. Later descriptions of his symptoms and treatment should remain attributed to their individual sources.
Machado continued to speak publicly about the episode. A 1993 television interview with César Tralli on SBT's Aqui Agora preserves his own retrospective account. A separate 1990 TV Bandeirantes recording, catalogued by Revista UFO, shows him describing the experience in São Paulo. These recordings concern Machado's February 6 encounter, while the other named Pirassununga reports require their own chronologies.
