Case description
At about 2:50 a.m. on February 17, 1969, a woman identified in Keith Basterfield’s South Australian catalogue as Ballestrina woke to a whirring sound in Flinders Park, Adelaide. Looking through a window, she reportedly saw an unusual object in an adjacent area about one hundred metres away. The description, retained through Australian research-group records and government-file references, should be distinguished from an independently verified landing.
The object was estimated at ten metres across and described elsewhere in the source chain as an inverted silver-grey saucer with a white glow below. A lean man about 1.8 metres tall, with light-coloured hair and white overalls, emerged from the shadows and walked around it several times. The woman went to fetch neighbours. When she returned with them, the object was gone; neither an exit through a hatch nor its departure was actually witnessed in the recovered account.
A government-file summary also records a claimed Morse-like sound and a duration of roughly twenty-five minutes. Filing a report does not authenticate its interpretation, and the neighbours did not corroborate the figure while it was present. The illustration keeps the primary woman at her window, an ordinary-looking light-haired man in white overalls and the whole distant object in one scene. It does not replace the reported man with a conventional alien or invent a witnessed takeoff.
