During February 1969, José Antônio Fioco was managing Fazenda Bela Aliança, about eight kilometres outside Pirassununga, São Paulo. The SBEDV account dates the encounter to February 6 at dusk; another published version gives approximately February 20. Hearing his pigs grunt, Fioco went outside and saw an unusual craft landing roughly twenty metres from the house.
He estimated the object at about five metres high and four metres across, resting on three broad-footed supports around one and a half metres tall. Three occupants emerged through an opening but remained on a walkway surrounding the craft. They appeared about 1.6 metres tall, clean-shaven, in one-piece clothing with large chest buttons and footwear resembling aluminium.
Each carried different equipment. One aimed a short tube at a chicken coop, illuminating its interior. A second looked through a box-like instrument resembling a camera. The third held a larger rod and repeatedly surveyed the surroundings. Fioco watched their separate activities for about three minutes.
He backed toward his house to summon someone else. When he opened a gate, its hinges creaked. The craft immediately rose and disappeared within seconds. Fioco associated its departure with the noise. His daughter later described further aerial sightings around the property. The landed-craft observation remained a separate event from Tiago Machado’s encounter nearby.
