Greenacre, Australia being encounter — April 25, 1969

Bill Chalker’s account places this encounter at Roberts Park, Greenacre, on the evening of April 25, 1969. A woman and her young daughter were travelling home by taxi when they noticed a lantern-like object above trees near a floodlit football field. After the taxi turned a corner, the driver stopped, giving them a brief view from an estimated thirty to forty metres. The object was described as two bowls joined at their rims, about ten metres across, with a steady red light above and blue illumination inside a broad upper window. Three human-sized forms were reportedly visible: one seemed to operate controls, another pointed toward the taxi, and a third moved toward the rear. Their black appearance could represent clothing, skin, or silhouette; the accounts do not resolve which. The taxi drove off after roughly fifteen seconds. When mother and daughter returned around eight, the object was gone. The case was investigated retrospectively in 1971 and 1979 and discussed in Roger Climpson’s television documentary. Descriptions are not wholly consistent: the woman’s earlier official report gives about 19:20 and one minute, while later versions give 19:30 and a closer, shorter view. Her daughter’s age also varies. These differences remain part of the record. The plate depicts the later detailed account while avoiding invented facial anatomy.
