Anolaima, Col. being encounter — July 4, 1969

During a family visit to the Casateja farm near Anolaima, Colombia, in July 1969, adults and children reportedly watched an amber or yellow-red light approach the house and move toward nearby fields. Arcesio Bermúdez went closer, reportedly using a flashlight. Some accounts say that he described a small figure inside a transparent upper portion; later witness recollections emphasize a luminous sphere and no occupants emerging. Bermúdez subsequently became seriously ill and died. The contemporary APRO report gives July 4 for the sighting and July 12 for his death; later newspaper retellings use a shorter interval, while Alan Murdie's re-investigation discusses July 5. These differences remain unresolved here. Medical descriptions included gastrointestinal illness and unusually low temperature, not a demonstrated exposure mechanism. APRO interviewed the family, and some children underwent hypnosis. The reported death followed the sighting, but that sequence does not establish that the light caused it. The plate depicts the farm observation without portraying radiation injury or treating later interpretations as a diagnosis.
