Case description
The Tacoma entry traces to a brief item in the Tacoma News Tribune of 8 July 1947, describing claims made the previous day. Gene Gamachi, I.W. Martenson, Gordon Pollack and a group calling itself the Center and J Street Neighbors were associated with a story about discs landing on a neighbourhood roof and several little people emerging.
The supposed occupants reportedly vanished when journalists approached. The surviving catalogue quotation supplies no useful duration, time of day, vehicle dimensions or description of the small figures’ faces and clothing. Its most important contextual detail is the newspaper’s introduction: the item was presented as levity during a rush of saucer reports. That wording points to a joke or prank contribution, rather than a sober report with an investigated witness sequence.
Ted Bloecher and later Isabel Davis preserved the item in discussions of early occupant stories, and HUMCAT reproduces the original joking frame. Later summaries can obscure that context simply by assigning the story a humanoid case number. The “little people” should not acquire features borrowed from other 1947 reports, nor should the disappearance of the figures be treated as evidence of extraordinary abilities. The plate therefore depicts a contextual newspaper-era illustration of the rooftop tale, clearly labeled as a joke report, with schematic occupants rather than claimed photographic likenesses. No independent substantiation of the alleged landing is established by the available source.
