Case description
Aquilo Ramón Acosta, a 44-year-old farmer near Crotto in the Olavarría district, reported an extraordinary predawn scene while his family was away. Sources disagree between 17 and 24 November 1969 and give different early-morning times. After hearing a cock crow and going outside, he said he saw approximately 15–17 figures around the fenced paddock, some inside and others beyond it.
Their lower halves appeared shining or transparent, while powerful lights made their upper bodies difficult to distinguish. One figure allegedly approached holding a rod, raised it and moved through the air over the fence. Acosta described sweeping beams, a stunning sensation and retreating indoors, from where he continued watching activity near the fence. Accounts also mention frightened or unusually quiet dogs and subsequent headache and reddened eyes. No craft was reported.
Gordon Creighton’s Flying Saucer Review report and Argentine press coverage preserve the story, but later correspondence disputed its date and alleged tracks. Subsequent third-hand allegations concerning alcohol use are not an independently established medical explanation. The ledger’s shorthand about frozen dogs and a collapsed animal should likewise not be treated as verified physiological findings. Both the event and proposed explanations remain limited by conflicting reporting.
