Door CO, WI being encounter — October 5, 1970

At about 4 a.m. on October 5, 1970, a nurse’s assistant at Sturgeon Bay answered a patient’s call. The man was sitting on the edge of his bed and said that he had seen monkey-like figures swinging in trees outside and sitting on his window ledge. The curtains were then closed. Noticing bright light through the fabric, the aide opened them and saw a diffuse yellow-green object hovering outside. The APRO-derived account compares its shape to a balloon and describes a bright stream of white light and a slight pulsation. She watched for several minutes before seeking another nurse. By their return the object had moved away, leaving only a fading streak of light. She had not initially connected the patient’s claim with her own sighting. A. J. Andropolis investigated for APRO, whose September–October 1970 bulletin carried the account. HUMCAT preserves both a detailed version and a thinner, possibly duplicate entry describing figures on an object’s ledge. Hatch instead gives a thirty-metre saucer at six metres altitude. These variations should not turn the aide into a confirmed witness of the patient’s figures. Their appearances and number remain unspecified, and their relationship to the light is uncertain.
