Case description
The Hatch catalogue records one observer in Auckland at 3 a.m. on 3 June 1971. Its compact sequence describes three figures on a beach following a silvery strip across the water toward a red spherical light. The figures and object then vanished from view. It supplies no witness name, precise beach, distance, figure height, clothing or facial description, and cites a later MUFON UFO Journal reference.
A strikingly similar account in Albert Rosales’s compilation is placed at Waluka, New Zealand, in May 1971 at 2 a.m., citing Canadian UFO Report volume 2 number 3. There, a witness drinking tea looked through a window and saw three men apparently surrounded by grey mist. A red sphere showed through trees; a silver strip appeared on the water as though guiding them toward it. The sphere subsequently moved away low and slowly, then climbed near an aerodrome.
The shared silver-strip, three-figure and red-sphere sequence suggests a possible connection, but the date, time and locality differ. They cannot be silently reconciled or treated as independent corroboration. The plate uses only their shared visual elements and labels the dating conflict, leaving the distant figures unresolved and giving neither a spacecraft hull nor unreported alien anatomy to the sphere.
