Case description
Esther Clappison reported noticing light from a nearby field at her Rosedale home in June 1971. She went outside with her dog George and observed a bright rectangular opening on a dark object roughly sixty metres away. The original Canadian UFO Report chronology gives June 7, while later catalogues, including the imported ledger, use June 9 at 8:50 p.m. Descriptions differ over whether the object was box-shaped or its external outline remained indiscernible.
Clappison described two short figures inside the illuminated area and a third outside gathering rocks. Their close-fitting olive or grey-green clothing covered their heads and faces. Accounts mention hooded coverings, unusual eye openings and pointed mitten-like gloves. One interior figure allegedly spread its arm and body to conceal an instrument panel, then signalled toward the others.
When her dog became frightened, she returned indoors to summon her brother. The scene had disappeared when she looked again. A rectangular patch of darkened grass was reportedly found afterward, and investigator William K. Allan said it remained visible months later. Canadian UFO Report published the case and an illustration in 1972. The conflicts are retained, and the plate keeps the exterior shadowed rather than presenting an elaborately defined craft as an established observation.
