Case description
Lorry driver Len Delman reported an encounter near Banbury on September 27, 1971. Driving after dark, he saw what looked like a person in white in the road and braked sharply. Thinking he might have struck someone, he stopped and searched behind his vehicle, but found nobody there. When he looked toward the front again, the headlights reportedly illuminated an exceptionally tall figure.
Delman described it as seven to eight feet high, wearing white clothing and carrying a backpack with two tubes running toward its head. Its most striking feature was a pair of enormous staring eyes, described as widely separated across the head. He sounded the horn repeatedly. The figure allegedly jumped about three feet, ran down the road and cleared a hedge into the adjoining field.
Two other lorry drivers subsequently arrived, and the account says that all three men saw a disc rise from the field where the figure had disappeared. That later observation should be distinguished from Delman's solitary close view of the being. The narrative was published through J. D. Llewellyn in Flying Saucer Review, volume 18, number 1. Nearby police reports of unusual lights provide broader context but do not independently establish the figure's appearance or prove that it occupied the departing object.
