Camas, Sp being encounter — January 8, 1972

A truck driver reportedly arrived in Camas, near Seville, late on January 8, 1972, visibly shaken by something he had encountered on the road toward the town. An account preserved from Manuel Osuna’s material says the driver appeared at the town hall around 9:45 p.m. and told municipal officials that the event had happened about ten minutes earlier near the Cuesta del Peral. He described an unusually large head and very long arms and hands on a figure standing in the roadway as though trying to stop his Pegaso truck. Frightened, the driver accelerated. The figure jumped into the roadside ditch and the truck continued without a collision. In the early account the being was about one meter tall. A later retelling instead gives a height exceeding two meters and interprets its initially bare-looking surface as a very tight, shiny suit. The sources also differ on the road kilometer, the driver’s age and where he made his report. Osuna’s version says officials did not record his identification or registration, then searched the location with flashlights and found nothing. No craft was reported in this encounter. The Atlas retains the Camas entry while making these discrepancies explicit; the figure’s outline and long arms are more consistent than its claimed size or surface details.
