Case description
On the evening of 6 August 1972, three men reportedly went to a campsite near Beaver Lake, north of Tofield, Alberta, after one felt strongly that he would see a UFO there. They waited for several hours. After darkness fell and they had nearly abandoned the watch, they saw a light cross the lake and disappear behind trees. Heavy footsteps and the sound of something moving through brush followed.
The men said they hurried to their car and drove away. On the highway they became aware of a large octopus-like form on the roof, with long tentacles apparently reaching toward them. Banging on the roof did not remove it. The account says they stopped, got out and struggled with the creature, then resumed driving. By the time they reached Tofield, it had disappeared.
John Brent Musgrave's UFO Occupants and Critters is the cited source for this unusual narrative. The available account gives no names, anatomical measurements, recovered material or independently documented damage. The first observation was a light, not a resolved craft, and the later roof episode does not establish that the creature came from it. Its octopus comparison should be retained as the witnesses' description without adding a spacecraft, an invented alien face or an asserted extraterrestrial origin.
