Belo Horizonte, Brazil being encounter — August 24, 1972

The Larry Hatch UFO*DB entry dates this report to August 24, 1972, at approximately 3 a.m., in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Its brief description says that several people observed an unidentified object land and saw three figures outside it. It does not name the witnesses, give their exact number, or identify a street, property or other precise observation site. The same entry records broken trees and burnt grass. These are reported features associated with the event, rather than independently established evidence of what caused the damage. The retained summary does not say who examined the vegetation, when it was inspected, how extensive the damage was, or whether photographs, samples or measurements were taken. It also gives no figure height, facial description, clothing, dialogue or detailed object shape. Hatch cites The UFO Register, the annual sightings catalogue of Contact International in Britain. A fuller original account was not retrieved in the present research. Other Belo Horizonte reports from the surrounding years should not be used to fill this record's gaps merely because they share a city. The plate is consequently labeled a contextual illustration: representative observers face three indistinct figures and a luminous object, while the narrative preserves the limited surviving sequence without inventing identities or alien anatomy.
