Case description
The APRO Bulletin’s article “Humanoids in the Dominican Republic,” by Leonte O. Hijo and Richard W. Heiden, describes an encounter reported by Virgilio Gómez near Palenque on September 22, 1972. At about nine in the morning he was driving toward the UNPHU experimental farm when a green-clad figure signalled him to stop. Gómez initially interpreted the situation as a military inspection.
He reportedly saw two other tall, human-looking figures nearby. All wore green coveralls and watch-like devices on their left wrists; their skin was described as yellow-gray. An oval object stood among bushes. The figure who approached claimed to be Freddy Miller, a Dominican allegedly rescued from drowning by the visitors and taken to live on Venus. After approximately five minutes of conversation, the visitors departed.
The article notes a historical fact: a Freddy Miller had disappeared while boating with four other people near Santo Domingo on May 5, 1959, and had been interested in flying saucers. That disappearance does not verify the visitor’s claimed identity or the story about Venus. The published encounter provides no independent identification or recovered evidence. Its distinctive features are the claimed conversation, humanlike appearance, green clothing, wrist devices, and partly concealed oval object.
