At about three in the morning on October 4, 1972, fifty-year-old Gilberto Gregorio Coccioli stepped outside his home in Burzaco, near Buenos Aires, after hearing noises he associated with his dog. He reported that a beam of light struck him and lifted him into a craft above the house.
Coccioli described very tall humanoids who placed him on a circular seat and examined him. Accounts refer to their long chins and olive-green clothing, and to unfamiliar instruments used during the examination. He also said there were two women aboard and described further personal interactions with them. His drawings became part of the published account.
Before leaving, he reportedly persuaded the occupants to give him one of the stones he had noticed inside. He said he returned to the ground with it in his hand and found his dog badly disturbed. The stone was subsequently described as terrestrial iron pyrite. Coccioli later spoke publicly about the encounter and claimed continuing communication; those later contacts follow the initial October 4 episode rather than forming additional observed events within that night.
The film gives about 3:15 a.m.; the dossier rounds the beginning to 3 a.m. The reported intimate interactions appear as a later elaboration of the examination account. The stone was described as ordinary terrestrial iron pyrite, not independently authenticated extraterrestrial material. Later claimed communications are separate from the October 4 sequence.
