Case description
Ventura Maceiras, an elderly caretaker at a small property outside Tres Arroyos, Argentina, reported an encounter on December 30, 1972, at about 10:30 p.m. In a later interview reproduced by Roberto Banchs, Maceiras said he was drinking mate beside an outdoor fire and listening to a radio when the reception failed. A buzzing sound and brilliant light then drew his attention to a large object near the eucalyptus trees.
He described a reddish-orange object with a rotating luminous ring, a rounded cabin and large illuminated windows. In Banchs’s interview he specified two tall, human-looking occupants, dressed like divers with helmets and backpacks, looking down toward him; one reportedly looked over the other’s shoulder. Retellings also associate the experience with scorched vegetation, dead fish, illness, and the alleged growth of new teeth. Those are reported aftermath claims, not independently established medical effects or proof of a common cause. The original catalogue's compressed wording merges these different stages.
The local newspaper La Voz del Pueblo published his testimony in January 1973, and later investigators revisited both the story and its extraordinary health claims. A surviving filmed interview is linked at the beginning of the accompanying video; the remainder covers another case. The plate illustrates Maceiras watching the object from his home, with the likeness, property, and occupants reconstructed.
