Case description
Engineering student Jorge Roberto Herrera, twenty-three, reported an encounter north of Salta on March 13, 1973. A transcript reproduced by investigator Roberto Banchs places him walking along National Route 9 toward Jujuy, where a five-metre object shaped like two superimposed plates descended with a falling-leaf motion. It settled partly on the wide shoulder and partly on the road, initially tilted, then extended supports that levelled it. Its appearance reportedly changed from aluminium-like to dull copper.
Herrera described a stocky figure about 1.6 metres tall in a white one-piece suit, with a large head, short arms lacking visible hands and broad feet continuous with the garment. He did not see it emerge through a door. It allegedly moved without moving its legs, then vanished. After the object departed, Herrera reported ground marks, an unexplained change in his position and subsequent illness.
This fuller source confirms the student's identity and assigns the gliding movement to the figure. It differs from the Hatch digest's Route 6 and afternoon timing. Banchs obtained hospital records indicating digestive bleeding beginning before the claimed encounter; those records undermine claims that the UFO caused his medical condition. Ground-mark and vehicle-interference stories remain reported claims, not independently established consequences. The Hatch entry is another source listing of this account, not an independent confirmation.
