Case description
Book salesman Onilson Pátero reported an encounter while returning toward Catanduva, São Paulo, during the night of May 21–22, 1973. Earlier in the journey, he had given a lift to a stranger calling himself Alex and dropped him in Itajobi. That meeting became part of his later contact narrative.
Near home, the car radio developed interference and the engine began failing. Pátero described a blue light moving across the dashboard, passenger seat and pedals. Wherever it passed, parts of the car appeared transparent. An intense light ahead became so bright that he slowed and stopped on the shoulder.
Looking upward, he described a circular object resembling two superimposed domes. He left the car and tried to run, but felt restrained. The vehicle appeared transparent in the light behind him, and he lost consciousness. Police subsequently found him unconscious on the road. The brief catalogue also preserves his claim that his briefcase had been searched and that the blue light made parts of his body appear transparent.
The remembered sequence does not account continuously for the interval before his discovery. His disappearance for several days in 1974, followed by discovery in Colatina, belongs to a later episode. Investigators from the Sociedade Brasileira de Estudos de Discos Voadores interviewed him about both events and published separate accounts.
