Case description
Jarmo Nykänen’s first reported Suonenjoki encounter is described in the November 1979 APRO Bulletin, using material forwarded by UFO Research of Finland. His diary account begins June 30, 1973, when he visited a lakeside summer cottage; the unusual observation followed after he went to bed around two the next morning, explaining the July 1 catalogue date.
Awakened by buzzing, he initially wondered whether the radio remained on. A strong blue light appeared near the cottage door. Outside, he walked toward the rowboat jetty and watched a blue luminosity approach over the lake, stopping above shallow water. He compared its apparent size to twice that of a rowing boat and its substance to an unusually glowing jelly. He only thought he could see a strange being within it.
His next memory was of lying on the cottage porch around six. Extremely sleepy, he returned to bed until noon. The account describes a memory gap, without a remembered journey inside the object. APRO’s later discussion of photographs, metal pieces and winter traces concerns separate 1979 episodes, not physical evidence collected during this 1973 observation.
