Albany, OH being encounter — October 16, 1973

Mary Geddis, aged twenty-one, reported several unusual observations after returning from an evening class near Albany, Ohio, on October 16, 1973. From her driveway she first noticed a distant ghost-like form, estimated at about four feet tall and fifty feet above the ground. It looked thin and sheet-like, without clearly distinguished limbs. She also described a bright white object moving nearby; Walter Webb's summary gives an estimated twenty-foot diameter and a low altitude, but no reliable structural detail. Later, while Mary was inside her trailer, a much smaller blue-green luminous figure allegedly peered around the open doorway for about ten seconds. She estimated its height at roughly two and a half feet. Its head had spiky projections at the top and sides, its arms were short and stubby, and she could not distinguish legs. The figure disappeared without speaking. This close view should remain separate from the earlier distant white form rather than assuming both were the same being. Her friend Joe and neighbours Chuck and Rhonda reportedly observed unusual lights outside, while Mary alone described the doorway figure. Their observations do not independently confirm it. George Eberhart investigated the case for Flying Saucer Review, and Webb included it in 1973: Year of the Humanoids. The plate uses the later doorway phase with unresolved sky lights, without inventing a detailed spacecraft or a boarding episode.
