On the evening of 1 November 1973, Florence Dow of Goffstown, New Hampshire, reportedly heard a thump on her front piazza. When she looked, she saw a motionless figure wearing an old black coat and a broad-brimmed hat pulled down over its face. The report gives the time as approximately 8:30 p.m.
Its most unusual detail concerned the face, which appeared to be covered with masking tape. A gloved hand made a gesture. The short surviving description does not provide a conversation, a detailed departure, or a clearly associated aerial object. The clothing and tape-like covering are therefore more faithful identifying features than any invented alien face beneath them.
The account was included by David Webb in his survey of the 1973 humanoid reports and subsequently in HUMCAT and Rosales's compilation. Its presence in a humanoid catalogue is a classification of a reported experience, rather than proof of an extraterrestrial visitor. Some searchable chronologies place unrelated craft sightings close to this entry; those neighboring reports should not be imported into Dow's porch encounter. The reconstruction depicts the woman, porch and distinctly described visitor, with no spacecraft and no unreported biological features.
Brief contextual segment within Goffstown wave. No observed craft or independent physical identification. Film expands gesture/departure beyond sparse catalogue; keep this as retelling.
