Vilvoorde, Belgium being encounter — December 19, 1973

A man identified as V.M. reported an encounter from his kitchen at Vilvoorde, Belgium, in December 1973. The imported date is December 19, though later source discussion questions the exact day. He allegedly saw a small figure in a luminous green outfit, with a transparent helmet, backpack tube and red box on its abdomen, using an instrument in the garden. The early version describes a dark face with pointed ears and bright yellow eyes, then an extraordinary walk up a vertical wall. A small disc was subsequently seen beyond it: orange above, dark claret below, with a cupola, three coloured lights and peripheral sparks. The witness reported no verbal exchange. Later interviews differed about the helmet, and no footprints or wall marks were reported. SOBEPS investigators published the case, but participant Auguste Meessen later explained that he had objected to treating it as a physical encounter. He proposed a waking visionary experience after learning of an earlier vision, while considering the witness sincere. This is an investigator’s interpretation, not an independently established diagnosis. The plate labels the disputed account and combines separate phases.
