Blacksod, Irl being encounter — February 1974

An 80-year-old retired farmer at Blacksod, County Mayo, reportedly went to bed early during a local power failure in early February 1974. Sometime after 8 p.m., a brilliant white light woke him. He said he saw a man in white robes in his bedroom, possibly accompanied by several smaller figures. Alarmed, he watched the figures fade from view. Going to the window, he then reported a white, glowing object with windows and large wheels. It resembled a caravan rather than an ordinary disc, and small figures appeared visible inside. The object illuminated the surroundings and began ascending slowly toward the east. According to the account, it made no sound before disappearing into clouds. The source trail leads to G. Toms in Flying Saucer Review, volume 20, number 5, and later HUMCAT and Rosales compilations. The power outage is background to the account, not proof that the object caused an electrical failure. Likewise, the bedroom figures and exterior vehicle belong to successive stages; their presence together in one plate is a labelled composite, rather than a claim that both were observed simultaneously. No detailed anatomy or identifiable alien type is recorded, and the smaller bedroom companions were uncertain even in the report.
