Case description
On the night of 6 February 1974, a report from west of Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania, described large, upright, dark-haired creatures near a residence and an unusual red light over nearby woodland. Stan Gordon's contemporary account in the May 1974 issue of Skylook described two witnesses, several approximately seven-to-eight-foot ape-like figures and conspicuous glowing eyes. The light was reported roughly 500 yards away, making its physical connection with the creatures uncertain from the outset.
A fuller regional retelling describes a woman hearing a disturbance outside her trailer, opening the door with a 16-gauge shotgun and confronting one of the figures. She reportedly fired and said the creature disappeared in a flash. Her adult son, who was nearby, heard the shot, came to investigate and reportedly saw additional figures; the account also mentions a pistol. The red light was said to hover over a wooded area during the episode.
These are witness claims, including the reported gunfire and disappearance, not confirmed biological or physical evidence. The contemporaneous description supports hairy, ape-like figures rather than small gray humanoids. It describes a red aerial light, not a resolved disc, cabin or other identifiable vehicle. Treating the light as a transport craft, or asserting that the figures emerged from it, would add a causal sequence absent from the available account.
