Case description
A builder at York Plains, Tasmania, reportedly observed a low-flying domed object with three figures standing on its outer rim. Keith Basterfield’s Australian catalogue dates the event to midnight on February 25, 1974. The man estimated that the object passed about thirty metres from him at approximately fifty kilometres per hour.
The figures were described as about one and a half metres tall and normally proportioned. Each wore a single-piece garment, and they remained motionless as the craft moved past. A Rosales version adds close-fitting hoods. The distinctive claim is therefore that the figures stood outside on a rim, rather than being glimpsed through cabin windows. The available descriptions do not resolve their facial features, identify equipment they held or record an exchange with the witness.
Basterfield traces the report to TUFOIC, the Tasmanian investigation group. Rosales credits Keith Roberts of TUFOIC but gives February 25, 1975, at 7 a.m., while another chronology uses the preceding February 24 date. These differences cannot all describe the same precise time. The Atlas keeps its native 1974 date, with the conflicting year and hour made explicit. No landing, boarding or taking of the witness is established.
