Case description
A man traveling to work by moped near Les Routières, France, reported an encounter around 5:30–5:40 a.m. on February 28, 1974. Near a bridge over the River Thon, he said, he abruptly found himself stopped without remembering braking. Two humanlike figures stood immediately beside the moped.
He described dark one-piece suits, squared helmets with obscured faces, and large gloves. A silent dark circular object was reportedly visible in the nearby field. One figure offered a small brown piece of material resembling chocolate and gestured for him to eat it. The witness said that it was soft and tasteless; after he consumed it, the figures allowed him to continue.
Later accounts describe neighbors finding flattened vegetation or depressions, but investigators did not preserve a surviving trace at their visit. The source trail includes Lumières dans la Nuit and Flying Saucer Review. The illustration depicts the roadside exchange without adding a medical procedure, a chemical explanation for the substance, or an unseen onboard journey.
