Valdehijaderos, Sp being encounter — March 22, 1974

Truck driver Maximiliano Iglesias reported two encounters on the road between Horcajo and Lagunilla near Valdehijaderos in March 1974. The Atlas gives March 22; contemporary press translated in Skylook describes consecutive nights on March 20–21, while a later Spanish account places both episodes on March 21. The difference may involve early-morning dating, but the available sources do not settle it. In the first episode, around 2:00 a.m., dazzling lights made Iglesias think another truck was ahead. He then saw a round object formed like two plates joined together, with a second hovering nearby. Two tall figures appeared, one pointing toward his vehicle, before returning inside. The objects reportedly rose and departed, after which he could move again. On a later return journey, approximately 11:00–11:30 p.m., he said three glowing objects blocked or flanked the road. Four roughly two-meter figures approached. Iglesias fled across country and hid in a muddy ditch while they passed close by; he could not distinguish their faces. Returning to the truck, he found its door closed though he remembered leaving it open. The figures allegedly returned to the objects, then appeared again with indistinct tools and made holes beside the road before finally leaving. Iglesias reported a damaged battery and a loud whistling departure sound. Civil Guard inquiries and a hole at the site were reported, but the hole’s connection to the story was not independently established. Fuller sources preserve this two-episode sequence rather than a single pursuit by four occupants of two craft.
