Case description
Onilson Pátero's second disappearance followed a business trip from Catanduva, São Paulo, in April 1974. The SBEDV account and the catalogue use April 26; a police report later described in Folha de S.Paulo dates the alarm near Guarantã to April 28. His abandoned car was found on the highway on April 29.
Pátero described another encounter with Alex, the stranger he associated with his 1973 experience. He said that humanlike occupants examined him in an elaborate laboratory, placing metal-looking bands on his wrists and ankles. He was then put into a body-shaped container and remembered little more before finding himself on a hillside.
On May 2, farmer Cesar Menelli heard cries from hills near his Catuá farm, outside Colatina, Espírito Santo. A distressed Pátero came down asking where he was and for help contacting his family. Menelli took him into town, and contact was eventually made with Catanduva. His family travelled to collect him.
The imported digest gives seven days away and roughly five hundred miles; the published police-history account gives six days, while other presentations describe the Catanduva–Colatina distance as over nine hundred kilometres. These are differing descriptions of the same later disappearance. SBEDV researchers visited both regions, and Pátero's claimed onboard examination remains his explanation for the interval between leaving São Paulo and reappearing in Espírito Santo.
