Case description
Monsieur Calvel reportedly observed a luminous ball near Alzonne, Aude, on May 18, 1974, around 10:45–10:50 p.m. An archived Gueudelot note, explicitly citing Lumières dans la Nuit 140, says he approached within about twenty metres. It compares the object's apparent physical size to something larger than a Citroën 2 CV van and records two moving shadows inside it.
The Hatch summary estimates a sphere about five metres across, describes it rising over the valley to roughly twenty-five metres, and says it departed rapidly westward. It also preserves a tentative telepathic impression that the witness had seen nothing. That impression is a reported interpretation, not an independently recorded spoken exchange. The archived summary supplies no eyes, faces, suits or other anatomical details for the interior shadows.
The available versions consequently support an unusual luminous-object report with uncertain occupant identification, rather than a detailed description of identifiable beings. The two-shadow statement is firmer in the archived excerpt than the ledger's queried singular figure. The plate follows that explicit count while leaving the shadows featureless and labelling the limitation. Its colors, apparent transparency, exact valley position and witness likeness are artistic interpretations, not recovered physical properties.
