Near Caceres, Spain being encounter — June 16, 1974

At about 5 a.m. on June 16,1974, a forty-six-year-old farm labourer reportedly saw a brilliant object while driving near Cáceres, Spain. The light illuminated the highway and followed his car for several kilometres. The account became one of the entries in a U.S. Defense Attaché compilation of Spanish newspaper reports covering September 1973 to June 1974. The man said he could distinguish three tall figures standing inside the object. When he switched off his headlights, it drew away. Turning them on again reportedly brought it rapidly back, at one point approximately seventy metres above the vehicle. It followed him toward his home, then gradually departed after he extinguished the car lights again. These are reported responses; they do not establish controlled signalling or a causal relationship with the headlights. The inherited description of three stocky figures differs from the declassified summary's tall figures, so no confident body type is assigned. The compilation, report 6 889 0174 74, dated August 22,1974, explicitly stated that its reporting officer had no basis for checking the sightings' validity and forwarded them for information. Government retention thus documents the press account, not an official verification of occupants. No direct conversation, landing or exit from the object is described in the recoverable sequence.
