Case description
A woman identified as Patricia N. in one account and Mrs Davies in another was driving through Mariemont with her three daughters during a neighbourhood gas-odour scare on July 26, 1974. The family was waiting for gas-company staff to investigate. Hatch gives 12:30 a.m.; other summaries place their drive around 1–1:15 a.m.
On Homewood Avenue they reportedly saw a figure about five feet tall walking toward them on the pavement. Its movement involved a forward lunge and side-to-side arm swings. Dark trousers extended to feet compared with piglike hooves, producing a clicking sound. The crown was bald and hair surrounded the lower face, but no clear facial features were visible. The mother thought its bare chest was hairy; her daughters did not agree. When they turned around and returned along the street, the figure was gone.
Leonard Stringfield investigated the report, which also entered HUMCAT and Ted Bloecher’s survey. The smell had ceased by the family’s return, and technicians reportedly found no gas leak, but that does not demonstrate that the figure caused it. No craft was observed. The account supports an unusual gait and hooflike impression, without evidence for added horns, a goat muzzle or a detailed nonhuman identity.
