Case description
Richard Haines’s CE-5 case 131 places four men beside a four-metre sphere in a mountain glade northeast of Khaishi on September 6, 1974. Gurgenidze, Nikolayev, Gershenzon and Lezhava reportedly called and waved without response. Approaching generated intense fear; Nikolayev collapsed, and his companions carried him to a camp roughly seventy-five metres away.
Lezhava went for help. The remaining observers allegedly took nineteen photographs, threw stones that seemed to vanish into the sphere, and tested its surface with a stick. Before dawn on September 7, Gurgenidze and Gershenzon saw five small saucers hovering nearby. A single two-metre humanlike figure in overalls or a spacesuit approached and entered the sphere. Orange illumination and reddish fire preceded its northeastward departure; two small objects followed, while three went west.
Haines cites Vladimir Rubtsov’s private files, with information from Vadim Vilinbakhov. He reports claimed soil and wood changes conditionally; independently assessable photographs and laboratory documentation are not supplied here. Later retellings relocate or redate a similar scientists’ story. The plate follows Haines’s overnight sequence, keeping the absent fourth man and unconscious Nikolayev separate from the two active dawn observers.
