Trairi, Brazil being encounter — May 1975

João Ferreira, forty-seven, and his twenty-one-year-old son Ademar were fishing near Trairi, Ceará, one night in May 1975. In Bob Pratt’s account, João left Ademar to light a fire and cook a fish while he continued farther down the river. Around eight o’clock, he heard his son shout that someone was trying to catch him and ran back toward the fire. João reportedly saw a blue disc about the size of a car on the sand, with a dome and five or six windows. Three light-skinned men stood nearby. Two were tall, wearing green and blue respectively; the third was short and stocky and wore yellow. They quickly entered the object, which departed amid multicoloured sparks or rays, illuminating the area. João said he understood a message that he should remain while they left, although the stocky figure was not speaking Portuguese. João initially feared his son had been taken, but Ademar had hidden in bushes beside the river. The recovered account therefore does not describe a completed abduction. Pratt’s book supplies the distinctive clothing and the riverside setting that the short Atlas summary lacks; it should not become a generic beach encounter with unfamiliar alien anatomy. The plate includes the father approaching, his son concealed nearby and the three human-looking figures beside their reported vehicle.
