Case description
The Atlas places this encounter in the Gribanovka region in June 1975, around 1:50 a.m., and describes an Air Force captain approaching a domed object in a field. A fuller version published in Flying Saucer Review in 1979 names First Lieutenant Pal’tsov. Returning to his unit, he reportedly noticed a cupola-shaped object beside the road. It lifted, crossed the road and settled again as he approached.
According to that version, the officer ran toward it but struck what felt like a resilient, invisible barrier and lost consciousness. His last remembered view was of two humanlike figures inside a transparent dome: one seated at a desk-like structure and another standing and looking outward. A later version adds a palm pressed against the dome, a second unsuccessful approach and a passing motorcyclist who also saw the departing object.
These accounts cannot be combined without qualification. Other retellings call the witness a veterinarian, describe three small egg-headed beings and add dreams or hypnosis-based recollections. Dates range across 1975, 1978 and 1980; some may be publication dates. Patrick Gross’s source comparison found no securely referenced original Pravda report. The Atlas retains its Gribanovka entry while identifying the conflicting chronology, occupation and occupant descriptions.
