Ostricourt, FR being encounter — August 8, 1975

HUMCAT preserves a detailed account attributed to two seventeen-year-olds, identified as Mlle.K. and M.B., at Ostricourt on August 8, 1975. Around ten that evening they watched an illuminated object circle and descend into fields. With the girl’s younger brother, they approached ground marked by old mine shafts and slag heaps. They reported a silent object hovering near trees about three hundred meters to their left. It resembled an inverted plate, red above and yellow underneath, with alternating red and orange lights around its edge. Two humanoid forms then appeared approximately thirty meters ahead. The figures were estimated at 1.5 meters tall and uniformly illuminated by white light. No facial features were discernible. Their arms remained pressed against their bodies and their legs did not move as they glided smoothly just above the uneven ground. After about a minute, the frightened witnesses ran home; their parents reportedly disbelieved them. The next day they found no marks along the figures’ route, but reported blackened soil and charred grass beneath the object’s former position. Investigators Joël Mesnard and Jean-Marie Bigorne reportedly still saw the darkened area two months later. These reported traces were not accompanied by a published laboratory identification in the catalogue.
