Case description
On 14 October 1975, Judy Powers was driving home from work near Peers, Alberta, when she saw what she initially took for a cattle truck stopped with its lights on. As she approached, she reportedly recognized an unfamiliar oval object with an upper structure, hovering beside the road. Two approximately human-sized figures stood on its rim or upper edge, each holding a long rod or staff.
The figures reportedly wore silvery suits and helmets that concealed their faces. Powers continued home and persuaded two other people to return with her. The object and figures were gone when they arrived several minutes later; one summary adds lights low over the trees, while another records no remaining observation. The companions therefore were not independent witnesses to the occupants or the original roadside object.
John Brent Musgrave investigated the report, and HUMCAT cites the Edson Leader of 15 October. Sources disagree over the clock time: the catalogue and HUMCAT give 5:30 a.m., INTCAT gives 9:30, and a summary of Ted Bloecher's conference talk says 5:30 p.m. The exact lighting should therefore remain qualified. The helmets prevent a reliable facial description, and the rods alone do not establish what the figures were doing or whether they were human.
