Case description
Jim Miller, possibly a pseudonym, described driving along Pumphouse Road near Toppenish Ridge on the Yakama Reservation on December 14, 1975. A cow and two calves fled across or beside the road. He then noticed three very tall, thin figures in a ditch. One allegedly crossed the roadway in an extraordinarily long, slow-motion leap. Different summaries place the event at different late-evening hours.
The detailed account describes close-fitting dark clothing with white wrist and ankle bands and a trapezoid-shaped chest emblem. Miller reported pale, elongated faces, pointed noses, thin lips, conspicuous white teeth, long fingers and reddish-brown matted hair. One figure held a small wired device in its left hand. These specific reported features differ markedly from a conventional bald “grey” depiction. Miller drove away, after which an elongated luminous object allegedly followed and brightly illuminated the truck’s cab.
The narrative then becomes still stranger: Miller said an image of a male friend appeared in the passenger seat while a female voice urged him to drive faster. The apparition vanished, and he later learned the friend had died by shooting. Those are separate paranormal claims within the account, not independently verified proof of the roadside figures’ identity. Investigative references include David Akers, Bill Vogel and Greg Long’s later book. No demonstrated abduction should be inferred from this encounter.
