Joe and Carol, travelling with their infant son Luke, reported several unusual objects while driving east of Goodland, Kansas, on June 20, 1976. One of the objects moved over their car. They next found themselves farther along the highway, with a gap in their recollection of the journey.
A later account gives the displacement as about five miles and describes several hours that they could not explain. They also reported unfamiliar bodily marks. During subsequent hypnosis, the adults described being brought aboard a craft, separated and examined by occupants. The catalogue describes three figures and communication understood as telepathic, but does not provide a complete description of the infant's experience.
The family was reportedly returned to the car. Joe later described the recalled experience as having a strong spiritual significance for him. The immediate roadside memories, the later examination narrative and his interpretation are kept in that chronological order.
Film describes westbound from Colby toward Goodland whereas imported label says east. Immediate roadside observations and bodily marks precede hypnosis-derived onboard examinations. No complete independent account of infant's experience; spiritual meaning is Joe's interpretation.
