Albufiera, Port being encounter — August 10, 1976

Francisco Tejero and his wife Teresa were staying at the Hotel Da Balaia in Albufeira, Portugal, with friends José Valles and Pilar Osborne Domecq in August 1976. In the bar on the evening before the main incident, they noticed two short men and a woman watching their party. The men were described as dark-complexioned with unusually white hair. Flashes gave the tourists the impression they had been photographed, although no camera was seen. Around 5 a.m. on August 10, Teresa awoke to a bright rectangle on the curtains and roused Francisco. He looked outside and thought he saw a quadrangular structure with six reddish lights, resembling upper rooms of another hotel wing. He returned to bed. In daylight, he found no such wing where he remembered it. A subsequent light in the sky was another observation, rather than proof of the structure's identity. The couples told Ignacio Darnaude their story in September, and it appeared in Flying Saucer Review 23/3, translated by Gordon Creighton. Its interpretation as a rectangular hovering craft depends on the witnesses' comparison between night and morning views. The bar strangers were not observed inside that structure, and their identification as spies or nonhuman beings is speculative. The plate separates these two reported episodes rather than presenting an established alien operation.
