Near Brusque, Brz being encounter — September 3, 1976

João Romeu Klein reported a close encounter on a dirt road in the Serra do Moura area between Brusque and Canelinha on September 3, 1976, around 7 p.m. He was nineteen and walking alone. A disc reportedly stopped above the road and projected a strong downward light containing three short figures in overall-like clothing. Klein said the figures blocked his way. He threw the knife he had used for farm work, but it appeared to strike an invisible obstruction. One figure pointed a rod; a bluish-white light allegedly struck his left leg, and he lost consciousness. Neighbors reportedly found him, and he later described hospitalization and temporary stiffness. The invisible barrier is an interpretation of the knife's reported deflection, not a measured structure. An FSR summary based on Brazilian reporting gives the beings' height as about one meter, while a 2016 local interview reproduces an SBEDV drawing caption estimating 1.5 meters. The image therefore uses short, humanlike figures with indistinct faces. Klein's own later interview says he does not recall any onboard journey and does not believe an abduction occurred; another researcher's contrary suggestion should remain separate.
