Around 10:30 p.m. on October 24, 1976, a man identified as Monsieur L. was driving home to Hobling from Hestroff with his young daughter. Two lights in a field initially looked like a parked vehicle. As he approached, he described a much larger object above the field, approximately fifteen meters long and initially estimated a hundred meters high.
The object resembled two spheres joined by a central section, with spaced multicolored lights. It appeared to follow the car. Through a broad illuminated window the father distinguished two silhouettes, one seated and another moving toward the opening. His daughter added that the seated figure held a rod with a blue ball at its end and that the standing figure had dark hair and a beard. These details should remain attributed to her, rather than being treated as identical observations by both witnesses.
The driver accelerated. In a later close phase the object was reportedly ahead of the car, lower above a small roadside building; when he flashed his headlights, it rose and continued toward the village. Investigators later examined disturbed vegetation and circular marks, but tractor tracks and subsequent trampling complicated interpretation. No electrical failure was reported and no actual touchdown was witnessed. LDLN published the case, and a local reinvestigation emphasizes that the surviving gendarmerie material does not reproduce every later entity detail. The plate follows the reported dumbbell geometry while keeping the differing witness descriptions explicit.
The daughter supplied details her father did not notice. Alleged traces were complicated by tractor tracks/trampling; no witnessed touchdown or electrical failure.
