7 Mile Beach, Tasm being encounter — February 3, 1977

Schoolchildren at a youth camp near Seven Mile Beach reportedly heard an unusual noise and saw a hovering object around 9:30 p.m. on 3 February 1977. The accounts describe a dome and windows, flashing lights and a movement or rotation of the upper portion. One description compared the overall outline to two plates placed edge to edge. At least two children reportedly noticed a figure behind a central window. It appeared thin, with a rounded head and a large collar. An arm extended toward its right, and the head moved or turned. The figure was not described outside the object. Other summaries mention yellow-white lights around the edge and a red light above the dome. The object eventually passed behind trees and disappeared from the observers' view. Basterfield's catalogue identifies a Tasmanian UFO investigation file, TA77036, and Australian coordination coverage. Subsequent chronologies cite TUFOIC's January 1978 newsletter and the Australian UFO Bulletin. These are a source trail for the report, without establishing an occupant's identity or an extraordinary vehicle. The imported record carries physiological-effects coding, but its surviving narrative supplies no particular injury or symptom. That should not be invented. The exact number of children and detailed facial features are also unavailable. The plate uses four representative children, explicitly labelled as such, and preserves the thin, large-collared window figure without supplying a stereotyped grey face.
