Case description

At about 02:00 on April 19, 1977, a hotel owner identified in the preserved catalogue as Rosa Gremville was awake at Little Haven on the Pembrokeshire coast of Wales. Her radio suddenly went silent. Moments later, she heard a powerful humming sound outside. Looking from the hotel toward the fields, she was dazzled by an enormous light that she compared to a huge moon. The luminous form moved with a rocking or seesaw motion before descending into a field approximately one hundred yards behind the building. Once it was down, the object appeared round and dome-like. The account describes flame-like luminosity rising from the top of the dome. It is not clear whether the witness believed she saw ordinary combustion, brilliant light resembling flames or some other energetic effect. The Atlas retains her comparison without converting it into a technical description. Gremville then reported seeing two extremely tall creatures emerge in association with the dome and its luminous upper area. She estimated them at eight or nine feet tall. The short source does not preserve reliable facial, clothing, skin or anatomical details, so their appearance cannot responsibly be reconstructed beyond distant humanoid silhouettes. The encounter was viewed from the hotel rather than at close range. The available account does not describe the figures approaching the witness, entering the building, communicating or taking anyone aboard. The radio failure, humming sound, landed light and two figures form the complete central sequence. The following day, burn marks were reportedly found in the field. The source summary does not supply measured dimensions, soil analysis, photographs with a documented chain of custody or a comparison with agricultural and environmental causes. The marks therefore remain a reported trace rather than confirmed physical evidence of a landing. The account was published by Randall Jones Pugh in the August 1977 issue of Flying Saucer Review in connection with BUFORA and was catalogued by David Webb and Ted Bloecher as HUMCAT case 1977-18. That near-contemporary publication route gives the case an identifiable source chain, although the present dossier still relies on derivative summaries rather than a complete original interview file. The witness's surname appears in variant forms in later retellings. The Atlas preserves the spelling found in its source record and does not assume that every subsequent narrative is independent. The simultaneous repetition of the radio, object, entities and trace details often descends from the same early account. CE3 reflects the reported observation of two figures associated with the landed dome. It does not establish their nature or the object's origin. The source's limited descriptive detail is made visible rather than filled with familiar alien imagery. The portrait reconstructs the hotel-window view: the witness beside a silent period radio, a moon-bright round dome in the wet field, flame-like luminosity above it and exactly two very tall distant humanoid silhouettes. It shows no invented faces, approach, abduction or trace marks. It is an illustrative reconstruction, not documentary evidence.
