Case description
Pauline and Billy Coombs reportedly saw an unusual figure outside a window at Ripperston Farm near Dale around 1 a.m. on April 24, 1977. They had been watching television. Pauline noticed it first and waited until her husband also saw it before saying anything, according to the published summary. This episode belongs to a longer series of Coombs family claims during the Pembrokeshire wave.
They described a very broad figure more than seven feet tall, wearing a silver suit and a large, boxlike helmet. Its dark face opening showed no recognizable features. A pipe appeared to lead from the helmet over a shoulder, producing the comparison with diving equipment. The figure had a luminous outline. They called investigator Randall Jones Pugh and the police, but the visitor was gone before others arrived. Billy subsequently searched outside, accompanied by their reluctant dog.
Damage to a rosebush, television or other electrical troubles, and severe changes in the dog’s behavior were associated with the wider sequence. The compressed Atlas entry risks presenting all of these as contemporaneous, demonstrated effects of one encounter. No verified veterinary or electrical examination establishing that causal link was retrieved. Nor does the specific window episode describe a craft. The plate therefore shows the couple and suited figure without borrowing a saucer from another Coombs report, and without illustrating animal suffering.
