Case description
During July 1977, a woman identified publicly by the pseudonym Molly Smith was driving near Hulbert, Michigan, when she encountered a short, slender figure beside a gravel road. She described large, slanting eyes and a dark green, one-piece suit.
As she drove alongside, she heard a crackling sound and lost control of the car. She said it moved against an embankment, rose and came to rest in the woods on a pile of logs. After briefly seeing the figure behind the vehicle, she looked again and found it gone.
She climbed from the stranded car and ran home. Her watch had stopped around the time of the encounter. Her husband and several other people returned with her and reported unusual tracks and the car still on the logs. Heavy equipment was brought to recover it, with logs removed to free the vehicle. The reported movement of the car and the figure were her observations; the return party's observations concerned the scene afterward.
