Twenty-year-old Ceferina Vargas Martín reported an encounter while walking between hamlets near Almonaster la Real on 3 August 1977. Accounts place her on a path near Escalada in the early evening. A dazzling reflection initially seemed like sunlight from glass or a mirror. When it appeared again she felt weak and noticed two figures several metres away.
She described a woman about two metres tall and a man about 1.70 metres tall. Both had lemon-yellow skin, blond hair and unusually large eyes. The taller figure wore a green tunic and had long hair; the shorter wore a light-brown tunic and had short, disordered hair. A later detailed retelling describes arched eyebrows, nostril-like openings instead of a prominent nose and a narrow mouth. No spacecraft is described.
Vargas subsequently found her identity card and the crown of her watch missing. Retellings also mention bus tickets. She reported the incident to the Guardia Civil and returned with investigators. The archive's account of Antonio Moya Cerpa's investigation says the search found no unusual footprints or corroborating physical evidence; later accounts add distress and sleep disturbance.
Sources differ over the destination hamlet, an approximate time of 19:30 or 19:50, and thirty minutes versus an hour of lost awareness. These discrepancies should remain visible. An unexplained interval and missing possessions do not establish transportation aboard a craft. The illustration follows the distinctive pair's reported appearance and keeps the witness safely on the path.
