Case description
On August 6, 1977, around 10:30 a.m., retired car salesman Tom Dawson said he was walking with his two dogs toward a fishing pond near Pelham, Georgia. A domed, windowed disc reportedly appeared between trees and hovered just above the pasture. He described himself, his dogs and nearby cattle as temporarily unable to move.
Dawson said a hatch and ramp opened and a group of unusually pale, short humanlike beings emerged. Accounts differ between five and seven. He described pointed ears, upturned noses, little visible neck, hairless bodies and, on several figures, shining blue-green outfits and upturned shoes. He alleged a bodily examination using a cap and hoop-like device, without being taken aboard. An especially peculiar part of the story was a voice from inside the object repeatedly naming the missing labour leader Jimmy Hoffa; this did not establish Hoffa's presence or fate.
The beings reportedly returned to the craft, which departed, after which Dawson sought help from neighbours and received hospital attention for distress. The published trail includes Billy Rachels and newspaper coverage, but no complete clinical or investigative dossier accompanies the short catalogues. The plate shows only the arrival phase, with Dawson, animals and described occupants beside their craft; procedures and nudity are omitted.
