Paciencia, Brz abduction report — September 15, 1977

Bus driver Antônio La Rubia described encountering a very large, hat-shaped object in a field at Paciência, Rio de Janeiro, while walking to work before dawn. Hatch's catalogue dates the experience September 15, 1977; a later published retelling uses a different 1974 date. Both identify the same named witness and the distinctive robotlike occupants he described. La Rubia said a blue light stopped him moving as figures approached. His next recollection placed him inside, surrounded by beings with metallic-looking bodies, upright oval heads and antenna-like projections. He described lights where their eyes would be and long arms with unusual ends rather than ordinary hands. He recalled being enclosed in a transparent, bell-like space while the occupants operated equipment and displayed a succession of images. These included people, animals, vehicles and scenes involving La Rubia himself. He also reported a blood sample being taken. When he shouted questions, the figures reacted abruptly, and another light left him unable to move. He next found himself near the bus station where he worked, some distance from the field. Coworkers noticed that he was unwell, and he received medical attention for fever and other symptoms. Investigator Irene Granchi subsequently interviewed him. His account of the displayed images formed part of his recollection of the onboard experience.
