HUMCAT's entry 1881 records an unusual roadside observation near Midland, Michigan, on 15 October 1977, around 17:30. Mrs Foster and her daughter Lori were travelling to shop on Patterson Road near Pine River Road. Lori, who was driving, reportedly braked abruptly when a black figure crossed the road some 200 feet ahead of them. The figure was described as upright, slender and proportioned like a human teenager, with a smooth, dull-black appearance from head to foot. It allegedly crossed in two long bounds, each estimated at roughly 30 feet, rising about 4 feet above the road. The imported digest adds that its knees did not appear to flex. The women did not see arms, which establishes a limit of their observation rather than proof that the figure lacked them. It disappeared into underbrush on the left. They drove to the crossing point but were too frightened to leave the car and investigate.
